Skyworks Completes Qorvo Combination, Creating a New Global RF Semiconductor Powerhouse
Skyworks has completed its combination with Qorvo, creating a larger U.S.-based semiconductor company spanning RF front-end, RF GaN, power management, analog and mixed-signal technologies, backed by approximately 8,000 engineers and more than 12,000 issued and pending patents.

Skyworks has officially completed its combination with Qorvo, bringing together two of the biggest names in the global RF semiconductor industry and creating a U.S.-based leader across RF, power management, analog and mixed-signal semiconductor solutions.
For RF engineers, this is a particularly significant consolidation. Skyworks and Qorvo have been major competitors and suppliers in the RF front-end market, and the combined company now brings complementary technologies under one roof.
Skyworks says the organization will have approximately 8,000 engineers and more than 12,000 issued and pending patents.
The impact will be particularly visible in Mobile RF. The combined portfolio gives Skyworks a broader RF front-end offering as smartphones move toward 5G-Advanced and eventually 6G, requiring support for additional frequency bands, new spectrum and increasingly integrated RF solutions.
But this combination is much bigger than smartphones. Qorvo also brings technologies that broaden Skyworks' portfolio into RF GaN, low-voltage power and wired broadband, while the combined company plans to address markets including defense & aerospace, data centers & networking, automotive, physical AI and the connected edge. Skyworks says the transaction more than doubles its addressable market.
Financially, Skyworks expects $500 million or more in annualized cost synergies within 24–36 months after closing. Under the transaction, Qorvo shareholders receive $32.50 in cash plus 0.960 Skyworks shares for each Qorvo share.
Legacy Skyworks shareholders own approximately 63% of the combined company, while legacy Qorvo shareholders own approximately 37%. The combined company will continue under the Skyworks name and SWKS Nasdaq ticker.
Phil Brace continues as CEO and President of Skyworks, while former Qorvo CEO Bob Bruggeworth has joined the Skyworks Board along with former Qorvo directors Richard Clemmer and Chris Koopmans.
For the RF industry, the bigger story is the consolidation of two major RF portfolios. From RF front-end modules and mobile connectivity to RF GaN, defense, aerospace and next-generation 6G systems, the combination creates one of the industry's broadest RF semiconductor platforms.
What do you think of Skyworks and Qorvo becoming one company? Is this combination good for the global RF semiconductor industry?
