SpintronicsAI, CSIR-CEERI Partner to Advance Indigenous GaN Semiconductor Technology
SpintronicsAI Semiconductors has partnered with CSIR-CEERI to explore indigenous GaN technology development and fabrication in India, targeting defence, aerospace, telecom, power electronics and other applications.

Hyderabad-based SpintronicsAI Semiconductors has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with CSIR–Central Electronics Engineering Research Institute (CSIR-CEERI) to advance indigenous Gallium Nitride (GaN) semiconductor technology in India. The partnership will focus on technology and design transfer, with both organisations assessing the feasibility of establishing a domestic GaN technology development and fabrication facility.
The assessment will cover technology and infrastructure requirements, fabrication capabilities and potential pathways for strengthening GaN semiconductor manufacturing in India. The collaboration is also intended to help transfer GaN technology and design expertise from research and development into an industry-led manufacturing ecosystem. CSIR-CEERI brings more than two decades of experience in GaN devices, including process development, fabrication, characterisation and skill development.
SpintronicsAI will contribute semiconductor design, engineering, manufacturing and product-development capabilities. GaN technology is used across several high-performance applications, including defence and aerospace systems, satellite communications, RF communications, telecommunications, power electronics and electric mobility. The companies said the partnership could support the development of domestic GaN products while exploring the infrastructure required for future fabrication capabilities in India.
The partnership comes as India seeks to expand its domestic semiconductor capabilities beyond conventional silicon technologies. SpintronicsAI said the initiative is intended to provide a foundation for a domestic GaN semiconductor ecosystem and reduce dependence on imported technologies. The company also aims to develop advanced GaN manufacturing capabilities in India for applications spanning power, RF, telecom, defence, space and automotive markets.
