Bengaluru's RFMW Innovations Lab Rebrands as BESSEL Systems, Expands Focus on Advanced RF & Microwave Defence Technologies

Bengaluru-based RFMW Innovations Lab has rebranded as BESSEL Systems, marking a new chapter in its journey to develop indigenous RF, microwave, digital, and photonics technologies for India's defence, aerospace, and space sectors.

Founded in 2018 by Dr. Hemanth Gaddam, Subin Joseph, and Akash Agarwal, with Srikanth Reddy joining during the company's journey, BESSEL Systems began operations in a 1,000-square-foot, two-bedroom apartment with the ambition of building advanced RF and microwave technologies in India.

Eight years later, the company reports having grown to more than 190 engineers and industry professionals, with its headquarters at the ITI Limited campus in Bengaluru and a second facility at Hardware Park in Hyderabad.

The company's engineering activities span radar, electronic warfare (EW), aerospace, space, and datalink communications. Its RF and microwave capabilities include technologies such as phased-array antennas, RF front-end modules, amplifiers, receivers, and radar subsystems, supporting applications across India's defence and aerospace ecosystem.

According to the company, the new BESSEL Systems identity reflects its evolution from developing individual RF and microwave components toward delivering integrated subsystems and complete systems. This approach brings together RF and microwave engineering, digital technologies, and photonics to address increasingly complex defence and aerospace requirements.

The transition highlights the growing capabilities of India's indigenous RF and microwave industry, where domestic engineering companies are expanding beyond component development into sophisticated, system-level technologies for mission-critical applications.
