India's Accordyne has launched ZUMA, an edge-native robotics Platform-as-a-Service (PaaS) designed to transform independent drones, robots and other unmanned systems into coordinated, secure and autonomous fleets.

According to Dr. Neeraj Kumar, Founder Director of Accordyne, ZUMA uses an agent-based architecture where individual nodes operate as independent but collaborative agents.

These nodes can include unmanned vehicles, robotic platforms, fixed assets and even satellites, allowing different systems to coordinate and form teams based on mission requirements.

One of ZUMA's key features is its lightweight architecture. Accordyne says the platform can operate on hardware as compact as the Raspberry Pi Zero, with optional ROS 2 integration while also supporting standalone operation.

For RF and wireless engineers, the platform is particularly interesting because it targets integration with mesh radios, software-defined radios (SDRs), antenna tracking systems, RF/optical communication links, radar, LiDAR, UWB ranging and GNSS.

These technologies are important building blocks for autonomous systems operating across distributed environments.

Following the launch, Accordyne has invited OEMs and distributors of drone and robotics subsystems to collaborate on integrating their technologies with ZUMA.

The company says it will develop the necessary software drivers and adapters to connect third-party hardware to its platform.

For India's growing defence electronics, RF communications and autonomous systems ecosystem, platforms such as ZUMA could create opportunities for companies developing indigenous SDRs, RF modules, antennas, navigation systems, sensors and electronic warfare subsystems.
