India's Lekha Wireless Contributes to AI/ML Discussions for 5G Advanced and 6G at 3GPP Meeting in South Korea

India's Lekha Wireless Solutions participated in the 3GPP RAN Working Group meetings in Jeju, South Korea, highlighting the growing involvement of Indian engineering companies in international wireless communication standardization.

Sai Sumanth Reddy Karam, Wireless R&D Engineer at Lekha Wireless Solutions, represented the company during the 3GPP RAN4 120bis meeting, where discussions covered AI/ML-related mobility topics, AI/ML applications for the New Radio (NR) physical layer, and ongoing 6G AI studies.

The Third Generation Partnership Project (3GPP) develops technical specifications for cellular communication systems, including 4G LTE, 5G NR, and future 6G technologies. Its RAN working groups address different aspects of radio access networks, from physical-layer protocols to RF performance and radio resource management.

AI and machine learning are becoming important research areas for next-generation wireless networks, with potential applications in channel estimation, beam management, mobility optimization, interference mitigation, and radio resource allocation.

The participation also involved collaboration with colleagues Sreenath Ramanath, Sashiganth M, and Dr. Abhinaba Dey.

The engineer acknowledged the support of India's Telecommunications Standards Development Society (TSDSI) in enabling participation in global standardization activities.

For India's RF and wireless engineering ecosystem, participation in international standards discussions is important because future cellular specifications influence modem development, RF transceiver requirements, antenna systems, and wireless test methodologies.
