NXP Semiconductors recently hosted Jaap Veerman, Consul General of the Kingdom of the Netherlands, at its Bengaluru operations to discuss semiconductor innovation and opportunities for deeper technology collaboration between India and the Netherlands.

The visit was highlighted by Hitesh Garg, Vice President and India Managing Director at NXP, who shared details of the discussions through LinkedIn.

The engagement covered several areas relevant to the semiconductor industry, including semiconductor innovation, artificial intelligence at the edge, startup enablement, talent development, and collaboration between industry, academia, and government.

With its Dutch heritage and established engineering presence in India, NXP occupies a position connecting semiconductor innovation across the two countries.

An important theme highlighted during the discussions was the need to strengthen India's end-to-end system design and product realization capabilities.

India has developed a substantial semiconductor design engineering workforce. However, developing complete electronic products requires expertise beyond individual semiconductor components.

End-to-end system engineering brings together semiconductor devices, RF and analog circuitry, embedded processing, firmware, power management, hardware integration, validation, and product-level testing.

For RF and wireless engineers, system-level capabilities are particularly important because overall product performance depends on how multiple subsystems interact.

Wireless communication products, automotive radar systems, industrial IoT devices, and connected embedded systems require close coordination between RF design, digital processing, antennas, software, and manufacturing teams.

According to Hitesh Garg, bridging the gap between semiconductor design expertise and complete product realization will be important for strengthening India's position in the global semiconductor value chain.

NXP also highlighted its engagement with startups, universities, ecosystem partners, and policymakers to encourage system-level innovation.

The meeting reflects continued dialogue between India and the Netherlands on semiconductor technology, engineering talent, and opportunities for industry collaboration.

No new investment, formal agreement, or joint development program was announced in the LinkedIn post.
