Hyderabad-based Unistring Tech Solutions (UTS), a subsidiary of Zen Technologies, has unveiled an indigenously developed Passive RF Detection and Direction-Finding System featuring two-dimensional Direction of Arrival (DOA) estimation.

The system operates across frequencies up to 12 GHz, with provisions for future expansion to 18 GHz, and is designed to estimate both the azimuth and elevation angles of RF-emitting sources without transmitting RF signals.

Unlike conventional direction-finding systems that primarily estimate horizontal bearing, the new system provides two-dimensional angular information that can support improved RF emitter localization.

When deployed in a networked configuration, the technology can enable three-dimensional RF source localization, supporting electronic warfare, passive RF surveillance, and aerial threat assessment applications.

Developed under a contract awarded by DRDO's Defence Electronics Research Laboratory (DLRL), Hyderabad, the system is intended to support integration with directed-energy and laser-based defence systems.

According to the company, the system is scheduled for delivery, with its indigenous development highlighting India's growing capabilities in electronic warfare and advanced RF sensing technologies.
